The spectre of 1932: How a loss of faith in politicians and democracy could make 2012 the most frightening year in living memory

The dawn of a new year is usually a time of hope and ambition, of dreams for the future and thoughts of a better life. But it is a long time since many of us looked forward to the new year with such anxiety, even dread.
But the real dangers lie overseas. In the Middle East, the excitement of the Arab Spring has long since curdled into sectarian tension and fears of Islamic fundamentalism. And with so many of the world’s oil supplies concentrated in the Persian Gulf, Western families will be keeping an anxious eye on events in the Arab world.
Meanwhile, as the eurozone slides towards disaster, the prospects for Europe have rarely been bleaker. Already the European elite have installed compliant technocratic governments in Greece and Italy, and with the markets now putting pressure on France, few observers can be optimistic that the Continent can avoid a total meltdown.
For the most chilling parallel, though, we should look back exactly 80 years, to the cold wintry days when 1931 gave way to 1932.

Mystery foam engulfs northern seaside town

Foam blown from sea covering streets and houses of Cleveleys, near Blackpool, is thought to be non-polluted algal matter
A thick white blanket settled gently on the seaside town of Cleveleys near Blackpool on Wednesday, but this was no seasonal dusting of snow from above.
The Environment Agency dispatched officers to Princess Promenade to gather evidence as gobs of foam blew in from the sea and smothered streets, cars and houses.
"It appears to be naturally occurring. When the tides and winds combine to churn dead algal matter up from the bottom of the sea, it produces this foam, which is quite dramatic," the spokeswoman said.

Comet Lovejoy and the ISS

On December 24, Comet Lovejoy rose in dawn's twilight, arcing above the eastern horizon, its tails swept back by the solar wind and sunlight. Seen on the left is the comet's early morning appearance alongside the southern Milky Way from the town of Intendente Alvear, La Pampa province, Argentina. The short star trails include bright southern sky stars Alpha and Beta Centauri near the center of the frame, but the long bright streak that crosses the comet tails is a little closer to home. Waiting for the proper moment to start his exposure, the photographer has also caught the International Space Station still glinting in the sunlight as it orbits (top to bottom) above the local horizon. The right panel is the near horizon view of Comet Lovejoy from the space station itself, captured only two days earlier. In fact, Dan Burbank, Expedition 30 commander, recorded Comet Lovejoy rising just before the Sun in a spectacular video (linked here). Even considering the other vistas available from low Earth orbit, Burbank describes the comet as "the most amazing thing I have ever seen in space."

ASTONISHING! Thatcher told 'abandon Liverpool' 1981 TOXTETH RIOTS!

Margaret Thatcher was urged to abandon Liverpool to "managed decline" by her chancellor, newly-released National Archives files have revealed.

The confidential government documents, made available under the 30-year rule, reveal Cabinet discussions following the 1981 Toxteth riots.
The riots erupted on 3 July, following the arrest of Leroy Alphonse Cooper on Selborne Street in Liverpool 8.
Eight days of disturbance followed with 460 officers injured.
More than 70 buildings were demolished or burnt down as tensions boiled over between the police and the district's Afro-Caribbean community.
While ministers such as the then Secretary of State for the Environment Michael Heseltine, were arguing for regeneration funding to rebuild the riot-hit communities, Sir Geoffrey Howe, thought it would be a waste of money.
He warned Mrs Thatcher "not to over commit scarce resources to Liverpool".
"I fear that Merseyside is going to be much the hardest nut to crack," he said.
"We do not want to find ourselves concentrating all the limited cash that may have to be made available into Liverpool and having nothing left for possibly more promising areas such as the West Midlands or, even, the North East.

More Strange Signs! MOTHER OF PEARL

Also known as "nacreous" or "mother of pearl" clouds, icy PSCs form in the lower stratosphere when temperatures drop to around minus 85ºC. Sunlight shining through tiny ice particles ~10µm across produce the characteristic bright iridescent colors by diffraction and interference.
The display Hagen witnessed formed in the wake of "Dagmar," a storm that "hit the coast of Norway with hurricane strength on Dec. 25th and 26th," says Hagen. "Record breaking winds up to 145 mph were recorded. While people on the coast dealt with the aftermath, photo enthusiasts inland saw the effects of high altitude winds in these colorful clouds. It was a beautiful display, but not comfortable to think of all the suffering lying behind it."

HAARP (Hole Punch) Cloud Spotted in Austin, TX (compilation) - December 28, 2011

"A "Hole Punch" cloud is a non-technical name given to a cloud formed from an aircraft dissipation hole or trail. They are also called "Punch Hole" clouds. Rather than extending as a line, Hole Punch clouds appear as a circular or oval hole in a deck or thin layer of supercooled water clouds. They are not uncommon where jet flight paths intersect altocumulus layers. What is uncommon is when they form in a perfect circle that persists for a length of time to be widely observed, recently they have been linked to the HAARP phenomina." Info on Hole Punch clouds:

Chavez muses on US Latin America cancer plot

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has questioned whether the US has developed a secret technology to give cancer to left-wing leaders in Latin America.
Treated for cancer this year, Mr Chavez was speaking a day after news that Argentina's president had the disease.
Fernando Lugo of Paraguay, Dilma Rousseff of Brazil and her predecessor Lula have also had cancer.
Mr Chavez said this was "very strange" but stressed that he was thinking aloud rather than making "rash accusations".
But he said the instances of cancer among Latin American leaders were "difficult to explain using the law of probabilities".
"Would it be strange if they had developed the technology to induce cancer and nobody knew about it?" Mr Chavez asked in a televised speech to soldiers at an army base.
Who next? Mr Chavez noted that US government scientists had infected Guatemalan prisoners with syphilis and other diseases in the 1940s, but that this had only come to light last year.
And he joked that he would now take extra care of the presidents of Bolivia and Ecuador - Evo Morales and Rafael Correa - lest they also be diagnosed with cancer.
The Venezuelan leader, who is 57, has often accused the US of plotting to overthrow or even kill him.

A STEP CLOSER ! Iran threatens to block Strait of Hormuz oil route

Iran says it may close a vital oil-trade route if the West imposes more sanctions over its controversial nuclear programme.
Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi warned that "not a drop of oil will pass through the Strait of Hormuz" if sanctions are widened.
Iran's navy chief Admiral Habibollah Sayari later said closing the strait would be "easy".
The US and its allies believe Iran is trying to develop a nuclear weapon.
Tehran insists its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes.
Oil and finance Western nations recently unveiled new sanctions against Tehran following a UN report that said Iran had carried out tests related to "development of a nuclear device".
Further measures being considered to target Iran's oil and financial sectors have brought a furious response from Tehran.
"The enemies will only drop their plots when we put them back in their place," Mr Rahimi was quoted as saying on Tuesday by the official news agency Irna.
Adm Sayari later told Iran's Press TV that closing the Strait of Hormuz would be "really easy" for Iran's armed forces "or as Iranians say, easier than drinking a glass of water".
"But right now, we don't need to shut it as we have the Sea of Oman under control, and we can control the transit," he added.

Dead Bird Season begins! Dead Birds in Montgomery County, Kentucky - Cause Unknown - Christmas Day 2011

"There's a bizarre scene in Montgomery County where dozens of birds are dead.
More than 30 birds are lying dead on Indian Mound Drive at the intersection of Grassy Lick Road in Mt. Sterling.
All the birds appear to be the same species, and seem to have died and landed at this spot all at once. No word yet about what caused their death.The strange sight was first spotted on Christmas morning by people who live nearby.
"Yesterday morning around 9:30 a.m. I pulled out on to the bypass, and there was a whole slew of birds," explains local resident Karen Williams. "I didn't know where they came from. I didn't know. I thought if someone shot them there was an awful lot of shooting going on but I don't know," said Williams.

World 'dangerously unprepared' for future disasters

Some countries' failure to pay into a UN disaster relief fund is leaving the world "dangerously unprepared" for future crises, Andrew Mitchell says.
The international development secretary said several countries had not donated to the Central Emergency Response Fund, aimed at speeding-up relief delivery.
Britain has increased its pledge for 2012 from £40m to £60m but the fund is expected to be £45m short next year.
The international community must "wake up" to the challenge, Mr Mitchell said.
The Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) was set up in the wake of the Indian Ocean tsunami on Boxing Day 2004. It includes a grant element based on voluntary contributions from governments and private sector organisations and individuals.
The fund was designed by the United Nations to speed up relief in crisis zones with one central fund, though many countries still choose to give bilaterally.
ActionAid spokeswoman Jane Moyo told BBC Breakfast: "The importance of this fund is that it pre-positions money where it is most needed and it is important that people - other governments - pull their weight because then we can help people who are most in need, in their time of most need."

We should scour the moon for ancient traces of aliens, say scientists

Hundreds of thousands of pictures of the moon will be examined for telltale signs that aliens once visited our cosmic neighbourhood if plans put forward by scientists go ahead.
Passing extraterrestrials might have left messages, scientific instruments, heaps of rubbish or evidence of mining on the dusty lunar surface that could be spotted by human telescopes and orbiting spacecraft.
Though the chances of finding the handiwork of long-gone aliens are exceptionally remote, scientists argue that a computerised search of lunar images, or a crowd-sourced analysis by amateur enthusiasts, would be cheap enough to justify given the importance of a potential discovery.

The mystery ball from space: Experts baffled by metal sphere that crashed to Earth in remote area of Namibia: Could it be linked to little balls found on Earth, 2.8 Billion years old!

It is a mysterious ball that looks like a prop from a science fiction film - and nobody can explain where it came from.
Police have been left baffled after a strange metal sphere fell to the ground in a remote area of northern Namibia, Africa.
It weighs around 13lbs, has a diameter of 14 inches and its rough surface looks like ‘two halves welded together’, said police forensics director Paul Ludik.
When the ball came down it caused a crater 12 inches deep and 13ft wide, although it was found some 60ft away.
Locals claimed to have heard several explosions in the days before it was discovered by a farmer on his land.

THE AMAZING TAIL OF COMET LOVEJOY

Widespread reports of Comet Lovejoy's tail are being received from around the southern hemisphere. The ghostly plume emerges just before sunrise, jutting vertically upward into the eastern sky ahead of the sun.

"I observed the comet with my unaided eye for 55 minutes this morning," says Colin Legg of Mandurah, Western Australia. "I also captured a timelapse sequence of the comet rising as twilight progressed."

Medical Journal Article: 14,000 U.S. Deaths Tied to Fukushima Reactor Disaster Fallout

Impact Seen As Roughly Comparable to Radiation-Related Deaths After Chernobyl; Infants Are Hardest Hit, With Continuing Research Showing Even Higher Possible Death Count.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- An estimated 14,000 excess deaths in the United States are linked to the radioactive fallout from the disaster at the Fukushima nuclear reactors in Japan, according to a major new article in the December 2011 edition of the International Journal of Health Services. This is the first peer-reviewed study published in a medical journal documenting the health hazards of Fukushima.
Authors Joseph Mangano and Janette Sherman note that their estimate of 14,000 excess U.S. deaths in the 14 weeks after the Fukushima meltdowns is comparable to the 16,500 excess deaths in the 17 weeks after the Chernobyl meltdown in 1986. The rise in reported deaths after Fukushima was largest among U.S. infants under age one. The 2010-2011 increase for infant deaths in the spring was 1.8 percent, compared to a decrease of 8.37 percent in the preceding 14 weeks.

Astonishing! I can honestly say I have never seen anything like this before!
"The breaking waveforms of 'Kelv-Helmz' (as they aren't known) are the result of shearing winds up at cloud level. A particular type of turbulence can develop in a layer of Cirrus cloud, which happens to form below an inversion* between air currents of differing speeds and/or directions. Sea waves break as their bases are slowed down upon reaching shallow water and their crests surge ahead. Cloud waves break in the same way: when their crests are pushed ahead of their troughs by the difference in air currents."

The news of the North Korea's leader death has put the 24-million population on the verge of insanity, hyped up by unceasing TV broadcast of mass mourning throughout the country. ­North Korea's national flag is flying at half-mast today on every flagpole in the country.

The sorrow following the death of the "Dear Leader" appears to be genuine. It appears that millions have gone out to share their sorrow with each other. Many of them do not hesitate to speak on cameras of the state TV channels.

Japan Tsunami Debris Reaches U.S. West Coast: That could include parts of human bodies!

Some debris from the March 11 tsunami in Japan has reached the West Coast.
"A black float about the size of a 55-gallon drum was found two weeks ago by a crew cleaning a beach a few miles east of Neah Bay at the northwest tip of Washington."
"Tons of debris from Japan will likely begin washing ashore in about a year, from California to southern Alaska, they said. Items that wash up may include portions of houses, boats, ships, furniture, portions of cars and just about anything else that floats, he said.
That could include parts of human bodies, Ebbesmeyer said. Athletic shoes act as floats."

Phobos-Grunt Update: Estimated to 'Re-Enter' January 9th or Sooner

"Tracking experts are predicting that Phobos-Grunt will re-enter Earth's atmosphere on Jan. 9, 2012, but at present, the forecast includes an uncertainty of plus or minus 5 1/2 days. Some analysts are even suggesting that the spacecraft could see its demise as early as Jan. 1 or 2."
The unmanned Phobos-Grunt spacecraft became stranded in orbit in November.
The agency says it expects the toxic fuel on board to burn up on re-entry, but 20-30 fragments of the spacecraft will survive to the surface.
Current Roscosmos estimates for the timing of the fall are between 6 and 19 January, but this window will be narrowed nearer the event.
Professional and amateur groups around the world will also be modelling the decay in the orbit in an attempt to determine precisely where and when Phobos-Grunt might come down.

Thousands abused in Dutch Catholic institutions

Tens of thousands of children have suffered sexual abuse in Dutch Catholic institutions since 1945, a report says.
The report by an independent commission said Catholic officials failed to tackle the widespread abuse at schools, seminaries and orphanages.
Based on a survey of more than 34,000 people, the report estimates that one in five children in Catholic institutions suffered abuse.
Allegations of abuse at a school in the east Netherlands triggered the probe.
The commission began work in August 2010 and studied 1,800 reports of abuse at Catholic institutions. It has identified 800 alleged perpetrators, just over 100 of whom are still alive.
It tried to find out what went on, how it happened and to suggest what kind of justice should be offered to victims, says the BBC's Anna Holligan in The Hague.
Last month the Dutch branch of the Catholic Church set up a sliding compensation system based on the severity of abuse suffered.
The commission's findings have been keenly awaited by the Dutch population, 29% of whom are identified as Catholic,

☢ Fukushima reactor #4 FUEL POOL reports say ready to collapse ☢

Several reports on the internet of Reactor #4 at Fukushima nuclear power plant has a collapsed wall --- and that any significant shaking (from an earthquake) will collapse the SPENT FUEL POOL --- thus making east central Japan UNINHABITABLE .

Hot particles are contaminating portions of northern Japan.

So lets look at some of the things that were released by the reactors at Fukushima. Radioiodine, Iodine 131: this is a short lived gas; it tends to decay by about half every 8 days. Cesium 134 and cesium 137: these have half lives of about two years or 30 years respectively. By the way have people heard the story of half lives? talked about radioisotopes? Thank you. Cobalt 60 has a half life of about 5 years. A whole zoo of what are called fission wastes and neutron activation products; these are the materials that poison nuclear fuels when they are in the reactor. And then of course the original uranium and plutonium fuels that are in the reactor and other transuranics heavier than uranium isotopes like Americium and Neptunium which are very specific to that uranium.
For how people are exposed to this radiation, there are several different ways these dusts will actually get into the human body. Number 1 is going to be the inhalation of airborne particles. Followed by the inhalation of re-suspended dusts. The difference being early on in the accidents, we have a lot of material emitted into the air. It is washed out by rain. It falls out as a settled dust. And then over time, the atmosphere clears but sometimes those dusts when they collect in a certain place, are going to re-suspend and the air will become contaminated again after a short downtime.
People also ingest contaminated foods. The list I have put here, these are foods that have already been found to be contaminated with unacceptable levels of radiation. Things like seaweed, shellfish, beef, milk, spinach, eggs, tea, finfish. I should add mushrooms and other things that are grown not just in the immediate area of the reactors but sometimes as much as a couple of hundred miles away.

HUGE COMET PLUNGES TOWARD THE SUN

 A comet nearly as wide as two football fields (200m) is plunging toward the sun where it will most likely be destroyed in a spectacular light show on Dec. 15/16. Although Comet Lovejoy (C/2011 W3) could become as bright as Jupiter or Venus when it "flames out," the glare of the sun will hide the event from human eyes. Solar observatories in space, however, will have a grand view. Yesterday the brightening comet entered the field of view of NASA's STEREO-B spacecraft:

Huge NASA Sphere enters and exits the Sun, astonishing!

Well I found this by accident this afternoon, an old video and another NASA artifact?

A HUGE planetoid or UFO crosses the sky. February 2007 (20th to 27th)
It seems on its linear orbit but then... it slows down, then curve in direction of the sun and then ...
... you can see it going back, back on the direction it come from....
11 hours are Missing, while the planetoid is "interactiong" over the sun (7 am to 6 pm on 02/25/2007....). Strange, isn't it?

PHOBOS GRUNT UPDATE

Russian Mars probe Phobos Grunt, stranded in Earth orbit since its main engines failed to fire after launch on Nov. 8th, is beginning to sink back into the atmosphere. Analysts expect re-entry to occur sometime in early to mid-January 2012. Until then, it is possible to see the doomed probe zipping brightly across the night sky. Kevin Fetter video-recorded this pass over his home in Brockville, Canada, on Dec. 8th:

With much respect to Sinixter who posted the original Mercury/UFO video. I dont believe he was trying to deceive anyone... It's is blazingly apparent that none of us knows what we are looking at in these STEREO images (As the 'reporter' in this news piece makes obvious).
If this is the case what then is this huge "black" thing showing up on the left hand side of the Sun here

Mysterious Planet-Size Object Spotted Near Mercury! Same object filmed close to the Sun last year?

Was same, "HUGE" object filmed Millions Of Miles Apart?

On Dec. 1, a camera onboard NASA's STEREO spacecraft recorded a wave of electrically charged material shooting out from the sun and blasting Mercury. Footage of this "coronal mass ejection" (CME), as such events are called, has caught the attention of alien-hunters, who say it has unveiled a giant, "cloaked" spaceship parked near the solar system's innermost planet.
In the footage, one sees a huge spurt of plasma and other solar ejecta washing over Mercury; peculiarly, the material seems to flare up as it hits another nearby object, too. "It's cylindrical on either side and has a shape in the middle. It definitely looks like a ship to me, and very obviously, it's cloaked.

Amazing! Huge object caught by SDO NASA close to our Sun 

Object is located on the Suns lower left equitorial hub, it is illuminated by x-ray flares as the Sun rotates past it.
This object stayed motionless for weeks, as the Sun rotated. It seems to be a solid object, it's not pixelation as you can clearly see, its not a planet because A: its huge and B: it stays motionless for weeks, what could it be?

Halliburton 'destroyed' Gulf of Mexico spill evidence

Oil giant BP has accused oilfields services firm Halliburton of destroying damaging evidence relating to last year's oil well blast in the Gulf of Mexico in which 11 people were killed.

At a hearing in a New Orleans' court, BP said Halliburton had "intentionally" destroyed test results on its cement product used at the Macondo well.
Halliburton denied this, saying the claims were "without merit".
Cement was a key factor in causing America's worst offshore oil spill.
The blast that followed at the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in April led to the release of 780m litres (206m gallons) of crude oil in the Gulf of Mexico.
BP and Halliburton are locked in a legal battle ahead of a trial on damages early next year.
