Ghostly Nebula for Halloween

VdB 152: Reflection Nebula in Cepheus
Credit & Copyright: Stephen Leshin
Explanation: Described as a "dusty curtain" or "ghostly apparition", mysterious reflection nebula VdB 152 really is very faint. Far from your neighborhood on this Halloween Night, the cosmic phantom is nearly 1,400 light-years away. Also cataloged as Ced 201, it lies along the northern Milky Way in the royal constellation Cepheus. Near the edge of a large molecular cloud, pockets of interstellar dust in the region block light from background stars or scatter light from the embedded bright star giving parts of the nebula a characteristic blue color. Ultraviolet light from the star is also thought to cause a dim reddish luminescence in the nebular dust. Though stars do form in molecular clouds, this star seems to have only accidentally wandered into the area, as its measured velocity through space is very different from the cloud's velocity. This deep telescopic image of the region spans about 7 light-years.

UFO shoots beam on night cam, SMOKE!

100% REAL PEOPLE!!! See the vapors/smoke from it! Gen 3 Nightvision caught it ON VIDEO. Ground & tree being scanned had NO BURN MARKS--I just checked today. Old Coal mine is underneath--perhaps they are looking for uranium (we have radon gas problems here)

Part 1 of many UFOs caught on ATN NV scope & HD cam. Part 2 will come--I'm very tired as you can imagine & need a break. (NOTE: with new footage from11th & 13th, part 2 will have to wait! ALIEN SHIPS IN WOODS NEXT!)

CHALLENGE TO DEBUNKERS - SEE BELOW!

See this one of my video to see the origination process (it happens every night of good weather):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqLlnm...

Location: Murrysville Pennsylvania, in Westmoreland County -- where the Kecksburg UFO crash happened years ago. Multiple UFOs seen there almost nightly (except when raining for some reason).
SEE MY "FAKE PLANE UFOs and Where They Come From" video on my channel to get a clue to what's going on .
NOTE: ANYONE FOUND POSTING THIS VIDEO AS THEIR OWN ON THEIR CHANNEL WILL BE REPORTED AS A VIOLATION. SAVE IT AS 'FAVORITE' THEN SEND & SHARE IT ONLY. YOU MAY ALSO EMBED IT ON YOUR BLOGS, ETC., BUT REDIRECTING/STEALING VIEW COUNTS WON'T BE TOLERATED.

Dr. Bruce Cornet investigated these Fake Planes years ago--same M.O. as here, and summed up the following properties associated with airborne night-time objects in Pine Bush, NY area:

· Imagery roughly mimicking aircraft behavior, lighting, and changing patterns and intensity of lighting.

· Certain data characteristics remaining constant or nearly so such as times of performances (dusk to Midnight) and places of performances.

· Stealth in appearance (i.e. low observable).

· Flaring of headlights during initial approach to the camera.

· Strobes that can resemble the colors and positions of navigation lights on conventional aircraft, but morph and change position, color, and number.

· Aspects of flight patterns that resembled the aerodynamic performances of conventional aircraft.

· Sounds that resembled those of conventional aircraft, but when spectrographically analyzed they are quite different from the sounds of conventional aircraft, and belie their exotic nature. The sounds were synthetic, composed of numerous individual frequencies blended together to produce a jet-like sound.

· Ability of objects to travel at speeds well below the stall speed of conventional fixed-wing jets and propeller-driven aircraft.

· Ability of objects to stop in air, make sharp right angle turns while moving, and to fly sideways and even backwards.

· Ability of objects to do maneuvers which would be difficult for even the best human pilots to perform, and suicidal to make at night and below 1,000 feet altitude over wooded areas, such as rolling over and flying upside down.

· Ability of objects to unfold and fold up its wings, and to fly without wings.

· Ability of objects to cut all sound and to produce harmonic sounds rather than sounds typical of turbine or propeller-driven aircraft.

· Ability of objects to travel at supersonic speeds without making a sonic boom or creating any noise or significant air turbulence.

· Unusual shapes, which range from triangles to diamonds and boomerangs, and the ability to blend in with the night background and reflect minimal or no light from the various navigation lights and strobes that they carried, even when headlights flared or strobes flashed so brightly that their intensity would illuminate major portions of the airframe of a conventional jetliner.

· Tendency to create Skyglyphs.

· Presence of magnetic ground and air anomalies at locations of activity.

· Synchronicity between time exposures and object movement, as if mentally in-sync and posing for the time exposures.

DEBUNKER CHALLENGE: Get proof of this being our manmade craft or shut up. I'll even tell you how (since you're too dumb and/or lazy to find out how). First, got to FAA: http://www.faa.gov/foia/foia_coordina...
Ask for identifying radar data for this location (the tree being hit): lat=40 degrees 24" 12.4" N, long=79 degrees 39' 14.0" W, on October 10, 2009, between 22:15 & 22:45 hours within 5 miles of location. And ask for PRIMARY radar data for the same location if nothing shows up with a transponder. If it comes back as our craft, I will pay your expenses paid out PLUS $500 CASH, AND a video apology to everyone on Youtube for wasting their time. Huge Bubble Nebula

Credit & Copyright: Tony Hallas
Explanation: To the eye, this cosmic composition nicely balances the Bubble Nebula at the upper right with open star cluster M52. The pair would be lopsided on other scales, though. Embedded in a complex of interstellar dust and gas and blown by the winds from a single, massive O-type star, the Bubble Nebula (aka NGC 7635) is a mere 10 light-years wide. On the other hand, M52 is a rich open cluster of around a thousand stars. The cluster is about 25 light-years across. Seen toward the northern boundary of Cassiopeia, distance estimates for the Bubble Nebula and associated cloud complex are around 11,000 light-years, while star cluster M52 lies nearly 5,000 light-years away.

Indonesian Asteroid blast reveals holes in Earth's defences

Early warning system misses asteroid that caused explosion three times larger than Hiroshima over Indonesia

Millions of asteroids are on orbits that come close to Earth's, including asteroid Eros, shown here (Image: NASA/JPL/JHUAPL)

As the US government ponders a strategy to deal with threatening asteroids, a dramatic explosion over Indonesia has underscored how blind we still are to hurtling space rocks.

On 8 October an asteroid detonated high in the atmosphere above South Sulawesi, Indonesia, releasing about as much energy as 50,000 tons of TNT, according to a NASA estimate released on Friday. That's about three times more powerful than the atomic bomb that levelled Hiroshima, making it one of the largest asteroid explosions ever observed.

However, the blast caused no damage on the ground because of the high altitude, 15 to 20 kilometres above Earth's surface, says astronomer Peter Brown of the University of Western Ontario (UWO), Canada.

Brown and Elizabeth Silber, also of UWO, estimated the explosion energy from infrasound waves that rippled halfway around the world and were recorded by an international network of instruments that listens for nuclear explosions.

The explosion was heard by witnesses in Indonesia. Video images of the sky following the event show a dust trail characteristic of an exploding asteroid.

Sudden impact
The amount of energy released suggests the object was about 10 metres across, the researchers say. Such objects are thought to hit Earth about once per decade.

No telescope spotted the asteroid ahead of its impact. That is not surprising, given that only a tiny fraction of asteroids smaller than 100 metres across have been catalogued, says Tim Spahr, director of the Minor Planet Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Yet objects as small as 20 or 30 metres across may be capable of doing damage on the ground, he says.

"If you want to find the smallest objects you have to build more, larger telescopes," says Spahr. "A survey that finds all of the 20-metre objects will cost probably multiple billions of dollars."

The US Office of Science and Technology Policy, which advises the White House, must develop a policy to address the asteroid hazard by October 2010 under a deadline imposed by 2008 legislation. It is likely to be influenced by a report from the National Research Council on the asteroid problem, which is expected by year's end.

The asteroid that caused the blast was not known before it hit and took astronomers completely by surprise

The sunspot's large dark core is about the size of Earth, while the entire sunspot group stretches about 50,000 km from end to end. The behemoth has been crackling with magnetic activity, producing 10 C-class solar flares in the past few days. That more than triples the number of C-flares (3) previously detected in all of 2009. According to NOAA forecasters, there is a 5% chance of an even stronger M-class flare during the next 24 hours. Stay tuned for solar activity!

How America was named by this map... and a pun

1) First use of America on map, after explorer Amerigo Vespucci. 2) The Pacific not confirmed until six years after map made. 3) Old World shown as the ancients saw it. 4) New eastern sea route to India. 5) The legendary island of Taprobane. 6) Reference to legendary king Prester John.
Drawn half a millennium ago and then swiftly forgotten, one map made us see the world as we know it today... and helped name America. But, as Toby Lester has discovered, the most powerful nation on earth also owes its name to a pun.
Almost exactly 500 years ago, in 1507, Martin Waldseemuller and Matthias Ringmann, two obscure Germanic scholars based in the mountains of eastern France, made one of the boldest leaps in the history of geographical thought - and indeed in the larger history of ideas.

Near the end of an otherwise plodding treatise titled Introduction to Cosmography, they announced to their readers the astonishing news that the world did not just consist of Asia, Africa, and Europe, the three parts of the world known since antiquity. A previously unknown fourth part of the world had recently been discovered, they declared, by the Italian merchant Ameri Vespuccigo, and in his honour they had decided to give it a name: America.

Carnage as car bomb hits Peshawar

Aftermath of Peshawar market explosion

At least 91 people have been killed after a huge car bomb ripped through a busy market in Peshawar, Pakistan.

The attack, which injured at least 200 others, was the deadliest to hit Pakistan this year.

Similar attacks have killed hundreds of people in recent weeks, as the army carries out an operation against Taliban militants in South Waziristan.

The blast came as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton began a visit to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

Mrs Clinton told a news conference the US was "standing shoulder to shoulder" with Pakistan in its fight against "brutal extremist groups".

Obama releated to all but 1 of US presidents

7th-Grader: Obama, Most US Presidents Related
Girl, Grandfather Allegedly Create First President Family Tree Chart

"Hey" is nobody who reads this blog suprised!

SALINAS, Calif. -- A seventh-grader and her 80-year-old grandfather are allegedly the first people to discover that President Barack Obama is related to all other U.S. presidents except one.

BridgeAnne d'Avignon, who attends Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville, traced that Obama, and all other U.S. presidents except Martin Van Buren, are related to John "Lackland" Plantagenet, a king of England and signer of the Magna Carta.

The student and her grandfather, who is a genealogist, spent this past summer designing the first known family tree chart in history that shows the presidents' direct relationship. BridgeAnne's grandfather has researched president genealogy for 60 years.

"I'm very glad I got this done, and I think it will turn out to be a success," BridgeAnne said.

BridgeAnne has written to Obama, who she has concluded is her own 11th cousin, in hopes that she will get a chance to present the president with the chart.

Exposed US presidents family tree

John Lackland
John (24 December 1166 – 19 October 1216[1]), King of England, reigned from 6 April 1199 until his death. He acceded to the throne as the younger brother of King Richard I, who died without issue. John was the youngest of five sons of King Henry II of England and Eleanor, Duchess of Aquitaine, and was their second surviving son to ascend the throne; thus, he continued the line of Plantagenet or Angevin kings of England. Prior to his coronation, he was Earl of Cornwall and Gloucester, but this title reverted to the Crown once he became King.

During his lifetime John acquired two epithets. One was "Lackland" (French: Sans Terre), because, as his father's youngest son, he did not inherit land out of his family's holdings, and because as King he lost significant territory to France.[2]

Apart from entering popular legend as the enemy of Robin Hood, he is perhaps best-known for having acquiesced —to the barons of English nobility— to seal Magna Carta, a document which limited kingly power in England and which is popularly thought as an early step in the evolution of limited government or New World Order.

INDONESIAN ASTEROID

INDONESIAN ASTEROID: Picture this: A 10-meter wide asteroid hits Earth and explodes in the atmosphere with the energy of a small atomic bomb. Frightened by thunderous sounds and shaking walls, people rush out of their homes, thinking that an earthquake is in progress. All they see is a twisting trail of debris in the mid-day sky:

Update Early warning system misses asteroid that caused explosion three times larger than Hiroshima over Indonesia

This really happened on Oct. 8th around 11 am local time in the coastal town of Bone, Indonesia. The Earth-shaking blast received remarkably little coverage in Western press, but meteor scientists have given it their full attention. "The explosion triggered infrasound sensors of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) more than 10,000 km away," report researchers Elizabeth Silber and Peter Brown of the Univ. of Western Ontario in an Oct. 19th press release. Their analysis of the infrasound data revealed an explosion at coordinates 4.5S, 120E (close to Bone) with a yield of about 50 kton of TNT. That's two to three times more powerful than World War II-era atomic bombs.

The asteroid that caused the blast was not known before it hit and took astronomers completely by surprise. According to statistical studies of the near-Earth asteroid population, such objects are expected to collide with Earth on average every 2 to 12 years. "Follow-on observations from other instruments or ground recovery efforts would be very valuable in further refining this unique event," say Silber and Brown.

UK: Muslim Youth's Creating "NO-GO" Areas in Britain For Whites...

Asian Vigilantes

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/reports/archive/politics/oldham1.shtml

An investigation for Today has found disturbing evidence that Asian youths in parts of Oldham are trying to create no go areas for white people.

Last year the police investigated record levels of racist attacks in Oldham.Of the 572 cases, 60% turned out to be white victims.
Pakistanis make up the ma More..jority on the Glodwick estate just west of the town centre. Some youths speak the language of racial hatred. It's not clear whether this is bravado but their message is blunt... white people keep out.

Many openly admit to carrying out what they see as revenge attacks on white people as part of a tit-for-tat campaign.

One told us: "There are signs all around saying whites enter at your risk. It's a matter of revenge. It's about giving as good as you can take."

Another had a six-inch scar running across his head. He said he had been attacked by a white gang.

"I got slashed by some whites so that I'm totally racist. I don't like whites. It's like this now, we go to a white area and we get done over. It's like them coming here they get done over...it's for your own good."

This hardening in attitude is repeated across the town and has passed down to children as young as 10. Unlike their parents they will not tolerate being victims of racism.

Local white people are scared and many want to leave the estates but cannot.

"I was just walking with my dog around 10 at night and a group of Asian youths in their car, music blaring, threatening me like saying they'd kick me head in calling me white bastard, white scum. You're frightened," one person told me.

Many Asian youths say they take the law into their own hands because they have no confidence in the police.

The perception is that the police do not take racist attacks on Asian people as seriously as assualts on white residents.

Akbor Khan had his three front teeth smashed in a brutal attack by a white gang:

"I used to have a take away in Manchester. We used to get lots of people who used to order food but not pay for it. It used to take the police an hour to get there. We'd ring the police and they'd say we haven't got the manpower. But if it happened to white people they would be there in 10 minutes," he said.

Many Asian community leaders say the trouble is caused by a minority stoking up problems for the majority, who are law abiding residents.

They say they would happily support greater police action to clamp down on the trouble makers.

Greater Manchester Police deny the accusations levelled at them.

A special multi-agency task force has been set up in Oldham to tackle the growing number of racist attacks Less..

Millions of animals killed as surplus stock every year in Europe

Half a million animals killed in Holland as surplus stock
Tuesday 27 October 2009

Some 450,000 animals bred for animal testing were killed last year because they were surplus to requirements or the wrong sex, according to a new report from the food and consumer product safety authority VWA.

The surplus animals, which cost the animal testing industry €2m, included mice, rats, rabbits, cats, dogs and apes, the report shows.

In total, more than a million animals were bred for use in laboratories in the Netherlands last year.

The number of actual experiments carried out on animals was down slightly on 2007, the VWA said. Some 52% of the experiments were for scientific study and 37% in connection with developing new drugs.

Holland is a very small country, Tiny infact with a human population of around 15 million.

If a small country like Holland is killing 1.5 million test animals every year, what must be the total for the whole of Europe, worse still the Western World?

Sad Beagle An animal dies in an EU lab every three seconds.

Vivisection means the 'cutting up' of living animals, but has now become more generally used as the term for all experiments on living animals as many animal experiments, such as poisoning tests, will not involve surgical procedures. It is estimated that over 100 million animals suffer every year in laboratory experiments world-wide. Animals bred for research that are subsequently killed as 'surplus' are not included in these numbers.

There has been a huge increase in the number of animals - particularly mice and rats - used in genetic engineering experiments and this is predicted to continue to increase in the future. The UK is Europe's largest user of animals for experiments.

WHAT ANIMALS ARE USED IN EXPERIMENTS

A wide variety of animals are used for experimentation.

Rats and mice are used in a large proportion of experiments, because they are easy to handle and cheap to keep. They occupy less space in a laboratory than larger animals and can produce 50 - 100 babies a year.

Rabbits are commonly used for eye and skin tests because they are easy to handle and they have a very limited ability to 'cry away' substances from their eyes during experiments.

Guinea pigs are also commonly used in skin testing and batch testing for substances such as vaccines. Dogs and primates are commonly used in toxicity testing, brain research, dental research and surgical experiments. The most common breed of laboratory dog is the beagle, chosen primarily because they are good-natured and a manageable size for testing procedures.

Primates such as baboons, macaques, marmosets and chimps continue to be used in their thousands.

Other animals commonly used for research include cats, birds, fish, pigs, horses, sheep and hamsters, but many other species are used as well.

WHAT TYPE OF EXPERIMENTS ARE ANIMALS USED IN?

Animals are used in many different types of experiments; all experiments cause pain and suffering. The animals involved will either die as a result of the experiment or be deliberately killed afterwards, often for post mortem examination.

In the laboratory an animal may be poisoned; deprived of food, water or sleep; applied with skin and eye irritants; subjected to psychological stress; deliberately infected with disease; brain damaged; paralysed; surgically mutilated; irradiated; burned; gassed; force fed and electrocuted. Researchers around the world use animals to test or develop almost anything from household products, cosmetics and food additives to pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals, agrochemicals, pet foods, medical devices and tobacco and alcohol products.

Genetic engineering experiments subject animals to myriad forms of physical deformity as well as more subtle forms of suffering.

Military experiments subject animals to the effects of poisonous gas, decompression sickness, blast wounds, burns and radiation as they assess new and existing weapons and surgical techniques 'in the field'. Animals are even used in 'curiosity driven' research. In fact, almost all of the products used and consumed by humans every day around the world, will have been tested on animals at some point in time.

WHERE DO LABORATORY ANIMALS COME FROM?

Many labs have their own breeding facilities, but a large proportion of animals are 'purpose bred' by commercial companies that specialise animals for vivisection. The research industry often tries to defend its treatment of animals by emphasising that they are 'purpose bred' as if this means they are somehow different from other animals. The breeders' catalogues talk about the animals they sell as 'products', boasting fast delivery and easy dispatch of orders, as though these living, breathing animals are no more than laboratory equipment.

The truth of course is that a laboratory animal has exactly the same capacity to suffer physically and psychologically as a companion animal.

Many primates used in vivisection around the world, such as macaques and baboons, are trapped in the wild or captive bred in terrible conditions in countries such as Mauritius, Barbados, Indonesia, the Philippines, Tanzania and China. They are then transported thousands of miles to be sold to laboratories in Europe, the United States and the rest of the world. These primates can endure such terrible conditions and stress on their long journeys that many do not reach their destination alive

ARE ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS CRUEL?

Suffering is an inherent part of vivisection. Animal experiments have to be licensed in the UK by the Government; a license is granted if the Government itself deems it to have the potential to cause "pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm". Deliberately subjecting animals to physical and psychological harm in laboratory experiments is cruel and therefore morally unjustifiable. As well as enduring painful experiments, animals can also suffer from the every day existence in the breeding factories where many of them start life.

An increasing number of genetics experiments mean that animals are now being bred with deformities or cancer, even before they are entered in experimental procedures. Transportation, the artificial and inadequate conditions and surroundings of the laboratory, all cause the animals stress- they too can experience fear, boredom, depression and psychological distress and the totality of suffering can be immense.

AREN'T LABORATORY ANIMALS PROTECTED BY LAW?

Under UK legislation it is still perfectly legal for an animal in a laboratory to be unnaturally caged for its entire life; poisoned; deprived of food, water or sleep; applied with skin and eye irritants; subjected to psychological stress; deliberately infected with disease; brain damaged; paralysed; surgically mutilated; irradiated; burned; gassed; force fed, electrocuted and killed. What kind of protection is that?

It is often argued that we have the strictest laws in the world to protect lab animals.

It is a nonsense to claim that the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (the UK legislation governing animal experiments) was devised in order to protect laboratory animals. It wasn't, because it was devised to protect animal researchers by allowing them to subject animals in laboratories to the sort of treatment that animals outside the laboratory are legally protected from.

Lab animals are specifically excluded from the main piece of UK animal protection law.

Under the 1911 Act it is an offence to "ill-treat, torture, terrify any animal... or, by wantonly or unreasonably doing or omitting to do an act, cause any unnecessary suffering to an animal..."; to "wilfully, without any reasonable cause or excuse, administer... any poisonous or injurious drug or substance to any animal..."; or to subject "any animal to any operation which is performed without due care and humanity."

If you watch any undercover footage taken from inside UK labs you will clearly see the lack of protection lab animals have and the treatment they are suffering is no better than it is in other labs worldwide, so the fact we these laws doesn't mean that they animals are being protected.

Pakistan detains 11 Iranian soldiers

QUETTA, Pakistan - Pakistani forces detained 11 Iranian Revolutionary Guards on Monday for crossing into Pakistan days after an Iranian commander was reported saying his men should be allowed to confront terrorists in Pakistan.

The Guards were arrested in the Mashkhel area on the border with Iran eight days after a suicide bomber killed 42 people, including six Revolutionary Guard commanders, in Iran's southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province.

A Sunni Muslim group Jundollah (God's soldiers), claimed responsibility for the blast.

Iran says the group operates from across the border in Pakistan. On Tuesday last week, a senior Revolutionary Guards commander said his force should be given permission to confront terrorists inside Pakistan, state media reported.

"It's a serious matter. We are investigating why they crossed into our territory," said a Pakistani border security official, who declined to be identified as he is not authorized to speak to the media.

Another Pakistani security official said Iranian border officials had told them that the encroachment was accidental and happened after the Guards launched an operation against Jundollah militants near the border.

The Iranians were being detained and it was not clear when they would be released, the Pakistani officials said.

Iran says the Jundollah group has bases in Pakistan and it has urged Pakistan to hand over its leader, Abdolmalik Rigi.

Pakistan condemned the October 18 bombing and denied suggestions from the Iranian president that "some security agents" in Pakistan were cooperating with the bombers.

Pakistan also denied that Rigi was in Pakistan.

Impact on relations?
Relations between Iran and Pakistan have been generally good in recent years and the neighbors are cooperating on plans to build a natural gas pipeline but Iran has said last week's suicide bombing would affect relations.

Pakistan has assured Iran that it would cooperate in tracking down and punishing those behind the attack.

Doubts over Latvia 'meteor crash' Hoax!

A military unit dispatched to the site found normal levels of radiation

Scientists investigating a large crater in a field in northern Latvia, believed to have been caused by a meteorite, now suspect it was a hoax.

Fire crews were called to the scene on Sunday outside the town of Mazsalaca by locals who said something had fallen from the sky and set the land on fire.

One expert who had said the 9m (27ft) wide crater was caused by an impact, said he now thought it was artificial.

The hole was too tidy to have been caused by a meteorite, he said.

It would be unusual for such a large meteorite to hit the Earth, as most objects burn up in the atmosphere and never reach the surface.

In 2007, a meteorite ploughed into the countryside near the Andean town of Carancas in Peru, creating a 15m (50ft) wide crater.

'Pyrotechnic compound'

On Monday, a spokeswoman for the Latvian State Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters had been told by a witness about a fire in a field near Mazsalaca at 1730 (1530 GMT) the previous day.

"We concluded that the impact must have come from the air and this is why we believe it could have been a meteorite," Inga Vetere said.

At this time, we don't think it was a meteorite

Ilgonis Vilks, Institute of Astronomy, University of Latvia
A military unit sent to the site found normal radiation levels.

Uldis Nulle, a scientist at the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, said his first impression after visiting the site late on Sunday had been that the crater was caused by a meteorite.

However, on closer inspection in daylight he found that the hole was too tidy to have been caused by a genuine impact.

"This is not a real crater. It is artificial," he told the Associated Press.

Ilgonis Vilks, chairman of the Institute of Astronomy of the University of Latvia, also said he could not rule out the possibility that it was a hoax.

"At this time, we don't think it was a meteorite," he told reporters.

Geologist Dainis Ozols said he believed someone had dug a hole with a mechanical digger and tried to make it look like a meteorite crater by burning a pyrotechnic compound at the bottom.

It is thought the meteorite would have to have been at least 1m (3ft) in diameter to create a crater that size.

The owner of the land is now selling tickets to people who want to see the crater, reportedly to pay for wear and tear on the road.
